Brief Description:  Undercarriage Alignment

Lots and lots of nervous measuring as I was acutely aware that an error at this point would be expensive and no doubt cost hours of rework. Fortunately after reading through the plans for the specific gear installation and also the Vans plans I aligned the gear primarily to the fuselage (aka runs straight), secondarily to the Z angles and lastly to the plumb bobs. The measurements were spot on for the first two and slightly toe out for the last but the plans said that this was solveable with shims on the axles later on. I decided to drill the gear at this point as if I moved the gear to reduce the very slight toe out it puts the first and second more important measurements off and also makes the outboard wear plate holes far too close to the existing rivet.

Anyway after much measuring and re-measuring I drilled the assembly and apart from the odd smoking drill bit (despite cutting fluid and BoeLube) it all worked out really well.
